Our Weekly Hero: 10-Year-Old Boy Who Reads To Shelter Dogs Every Weekend

The dogs at this NYC Animal Shelter have found comfort and companionship in 10-year-old Evan B. who visits them every weekend and soothe them with his storytelling. Evan sits on a mat before the cages and reads to the abandoned dogs, who grow calmer in his presence. Story via: Buzzfeed

“The most rewarding experience is when I try to specifically help an at-risk dog and I can almost immediately see the impact and how they react to me reading to them,” Evan said. “They start to get calm and quiet and some even fall asleep. They will be at the front of the kennel and end up curled up on their beds snoring. That makes me happy because I can tell they are scared and stressed. I sometimes bring toys for the dogs I read to as a reward for being listeners, but I end up giving toys to almost all of them!”

The World’s First Dog Leggings Will Protect Your Pooch From All The Ruff Stuff Outside

Happy walking and wagging!

On theirhomepage, Founder and fellow dog lover, Lisa Barnoff, explains how “Walkee Paws” were born: “As a dog owner in Manhattan, I grew increasingly concerned over the germs, chemicals, rain and snow that my dogs were coming into contact with on our daily walks. Unfortunately, my pups hated traditional dog booties almost as much as I did. Not only were they uncomfortable to wear and a pain to put on, but they also had a habit of falling off mid-walk and only held up for a few wears. I was convinced I could come up with a solution that was both fun and functional—and that’s how Walkee Paws was born.

Launching in 2018 as the world’s first dog leggings, Walkee Paws were designed to protect your pooch from all the ruff stuff outside, all while making walks with your furry friends even more enjoyable.

You can now dress your dog in these canine pantsthat come in the classic houndstooth, polka dots, camo styles, and the price varies from $19.99 to $29.99, depending on what size your dog is.

Zoe The French Bulldog is The First NFL’S Emotional Support Dog

The San Francisco 49ers adopted the French Bulldog last year to help players deal with stress, depression, and anxiety.

In welcoming the year-old French Bulldog, the 49ers have become the first team in the NFL to have an emotional support dog for their team.

Zoë was adopted by Austin Moss, the team’s director of player engagement, in October of 2018, and since then, she’s become a warm, calming and positive presence for players. The team spends time with her before and after games and in between practices.

Zoë spends most of her time lounging around at the team’s training facility near Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. When she’s not cuddling with her teammates, Zoë loves playing with balloons and eating treats, according to KRON. She doesn’t accompany the team on away games but is always excited to greet them when they return.

As far as we are concerned, Zoe is totally the team’s cutest MVP! Check out some of her cute photos with the team on their official Instagrampage.
